Samsung Electronics once again demonstrated its dominance in the global TV market, marking its 18th consecutive year of leadership in the industry
Market research firm Omdia reported that Samsung captured a 30.1% global market share in 2023, reaffirming its position as the industry leader since 2006. This success is largely due to the company’s strategic focus on the premium large-screen TV category, driven by its high-tech QLED and OLED models.
Since its launch in 2017, Samsung’s QLED TV lineup, including the latest Neo QLED models, has surpassed 40 million units in cumulative sales. In 2023 alone, the QLED TV lineup sold 8.31 million units.
Samsung ranks number 1 in global TV brands for 18 consecutive years
Samsung maintains its overwhelming leadership in the premium TV sector – especially in TVs above 75 inches and priced above US$2,500. The company achieved a stunning 60.5% market share for TVs priced above US$2,500, while maintaining its leadership with a 33.9% market share for TVs above 75 inches. In addition, thanks to strong sales of its 98-inch models, Samsung also led the market for TVs above 90 inches with a 30.4% market share.
Thanks to its success in the ultra-large and high-end TV markets, Samsung has also made significant progress in the OLED sector. Samsung’s OLED TV lineup recorded 1.01 million units sold in 2023, with a market share of 22.7%. With the expansion of its OLED product lineup in 2024, Samsung’s market share in the OLED sector is projected to soar this year.
